Tax Jobs in London

What Does The London Tax Market Offer?

Despite all the crystal ball gazing by countless commentators in 2009 few of these stargazers have managed to anticipate the shape of the economy. As we begin 2010 the sense of optimism for the year appears to be a lot stronger then it did at the beginning of 2009 (not much of a stretch admittedly) and the belief that we are over the worst of it seems to be gaining ground. A number of business’s in London are now starting to prepare for the upturn. Tax recruitment is rising to the top of the agenda for companies and firms. Whilst 2010 may well offer us a bumpy ride the trend appears to be upward.

Creative Tax Recruitment has spoken to a number of clients that are looking to fill roles in 2010.

Corporate Tax Jobs in London:

While corporate tax compliance has seen some of the greatest numbers of redundancies in professional practice in 2008 and 2009, business winning CT advisers have been less affected. Added value remains a by-word in this climate and those CT specialists who undertake a diverse workload (such as combining compliance and advisory work with ad hoc personal tax duties for example) have felt the impact of this recession less. Niche areas such as insolvency have actually flourished and current market indicators suggest that areas such as FS are going to make a strong come back – as inevitably will M&A demands when conditions improve.  Traditionally, this area of tax can be one of the more lucrative career paths to follow and banking and Big 4 rewards can still be substantial for high level performers.

VAT Jobs in London:

High Paying VAT Careers are on offer for the indirect tax professional in London. Creative Tax Recruitment has strong relationships with the Big 4 and a number of FTSE and Fortune 500 companies. In addition to this we recruit for the Top 10, Mid Tier and niche tax consultancies across the globe.  What the Future holds for the indirect tax consultant: The prospects for the indirect tax professional remain bright with career opportunities on offer in professional services firms and a number of in-house organisations. We are seeing a greater demand for contract roles in the FTSE and this is a trend that will continue in 2010.

Expatriate Tax Jobs

Throughout the recession this has been one of the most buoyant areas in tax.  We have seen clients recruit for the expatriate departments continually whilst watching other areas dwindle.  The nature of the work and learning about other tax jurisdictions creates a varied and challenging career, giving you job satisfaction and the chance to really stretch your skills.  UK/US tax dual handlers especially are in demand in London and you can expect higher salaries in return for your niche experience.

Investigations Tax Jobs in London

2009 has been a year of many challenges for industry, commerce and banking. This has impacted significantly on the accountancy and law firms of the UK in all fields of tax with the exception of Recovery, Insolvency and some niche areas of tax planning and products.HMRC’s apparent softly-softly approach to the investigation of small and large businesses has also led to a degree of stagnation, with a number of firms overestimating the volume of work that would arise. Some firms have enjoyed far greater return from the Offshore Disclosure Facility than others, with Partner feedback on the success of marketing campaigns also demonstrating vastly differing fortunes. The good news:2010 appears to offer hope that gradual recovery will turn into actual growth and an ever increasing number of accountancy practices and law firms are showing a new willingness to recruit Tax Investigations practitioners in late Q1/early Q2 of 2010 and beyond.

Personal Tax Jobs in London

While not as healthy as other tax areas at present, the prospects for personal tax professionals in 2010 will offer hope; with likely rebuilding taking place in the markets over the coming 12 months, head count increases will become essential for smaller accountancy firms  and some of the larger professional practices.
